About the author

Victor M. Becerra is currently a Professor of Power Systems Engineering at the University of Portsmouth, United Kingdom, where he has been since December 2015. Previously, he was an academic at the University of Reading, United Kingdom, between 2000 and 2015, where he reached the position of Professor of Automatic Control in 2012. He obtained his PhD in Control Engineering from City, University of London for his work on nonlinear optimal control, in 1994. He has published over 150 research papers, one book and one edited volume. His research interests include control and optimisation of power systems and smart grids, control of energy storage, computational optimal control and autonomous systems. His research has been funded by the EPSRC, the Knowledge Transfer Partnership Programme, the EC, the European Space Agency, the Royal Academy of Engineering, and various UK industries. He is a a Fellow of the IET, a Senior Member of the IEEE, and a Chartered Engineer in the UK.
